Wow, this changes a few things. I wonder if it will affect the sale of some animals: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20051116/hl_nm/science_venom_dc

"His team of international scientists isolated crotamine -- the classic venom of rattlesnakes whose bite can be fatal to humans -- in the eastern bearded dragon, a popular pet."

A bearded dragon with the same venom as a rattlesnake?  I think some of those scientists were taking shots of snake blood before work.

I'm sure they are talking about MUCH smaller amounts of venom, but dang, it's a surprize to say the least!

Not a biggie, Garters have some form of very mild venom as well. As long as it's not harmful to humans in the doses & amounts available i can't see it becoming an issue.

Fry was anxious that lizard owners should not be unduly concerned by the findings. "If you're dinner then the venom plays a role, but if you're human it's most likely just to make your hand throb. We don't want people to suddenly be afraid of their pets," he said. "Nor do we want any silly laws being passed against the keeping of these lizards."
I hope regulators pay attention to that.
