i'm probably looking at a compound bow as well. i don't care if it's girly, i will eventually need accuracy and stopping power going into the wild. if the same can be achieved with a recurve bow, i'd have no objection to mastering the skill.

There's nothing "girly" about a compound bow,and the reason I asked whether you wanted to shoot fingers or a release is the length of the bow you need.To shoot fingers(what I shoot,fuck you stephenL)you need a bow at least 40 inches axle to axle,most of the newer bows are too short for finger shooting.

Very good idea. When things all go wrong and there is no more easily available ammo for guns, you'll be in good shape.

I used to compete in 3D when I was real young, I was damn good too,I would practice every day all the spare time I had- I used fingers and always shot instinctive-learned it by being too lazy to go thru the trouble of sighting in my pins. I used Darton, PSE and Martin bows, I think a bear too Ive been thinking of getting a crossbow.
