I'm trying to take my family for a vacation (4-7 days) to one of the following places around July 4. Puerto Rico Costa Rica Puerto Vallarta Acapulco Which is best for a family (2 boys, 5 and 9)? Which is the best destination for summer? What is the best recommended resort or hotel in each place? I know there are casinos in Puerto Rico and Costa Rica....how about Mexico? Any recommendations from those who have been there/live there?

I went to Puerto Rico with my girlfriend around the same time a couple of years ago. We stayed at the Inter-Continental Hotel in Isla Verde (San Juan area?). I think most of the night life in that area were in the clubs and casinos in the hotels. Not much around. The bus ride to Old San Juan was only .25 Old San Juan was nice, saw the fort, the neighborhood, cobblestone street but it was only a small area that I found interesting. We rented a car to get to "El Yunque", the rainforest. Saw the mini-falls, a couple of birds.. yeah, it was boring. We did the tour on our own.. the hotels offer a guided tour but it leaves too damn early. From what my other friends told me, Ponce (South PR) is a really nice family place or Western PR. Have you checked for those "all inclusive" deals for Domincan Repubic?

Just back from Panama, stayed at the Royal Decameron. There's a lot of cool daytrips, lotsa to do at the resort, good food, lotsa latinas. I recommend checking it out.

I love CR the poeple and weather is great they say it rains alot no shit its atropical climate but everytime i have been the rains have never been a problem in or out of season. Hotels are reasonable as is food and you have casinos in San jose but you can alos got to fishing and beach destinations like Jaco and tamarindo.
