Aaron, that is a great idea. I was thinking of getting a top opening bag just like that, but it was made by Oakley. The Lowes one is exactly the same and more than $100 cheaper. I'm going tonight to check out what they have.

Glad I could help. It is hard to beat the price, the quality, and the function. Besides, tools belong in a tool bag.

"until i got a great deal on a 5.11" I have the 5.11 Tactical as well... love that bag! My biggest beef is that I can fit enough ammo and assorted gear to make it impossible to carry around.

Actually, I went to lowes and looked at that bag.  I wanted something with a couple of more sealable pockets that were bigger than the ones on the open mouth bag.  I have to keep looking, I guess.

What do you guys think of the Sig Competition Range Bag.  It seems to have the room I want:

Is this the 5.11 bag you guys own:

"Is this the 5.11 bag you guys own:" Yeah, that's the bag. I can fit 600 rds of .45ACP WWB in the center pocket of the center pouch. I got mine here for $89.95: http://stactionpro.net/store/product_info.php?cPath=10&products_id=47&osCsid=b314b1b5888bc4ceea36a15dae8038e8 You may even be able to find it for a few bucks less...

comparing sq inches between the bags, the sig bag is 3096 sq.in, and the 5.11 is 3840 sq.in.  Definitely more room, but damn, $80 is a lot.

"$80 is a lot" Come on, you'll spend that much in a single day at the range. I guess it depends on how many weapons you're bringing with you, mine is quite a bit of overkill for one or two guns. If you're just bringing that many then get a smaller bag.

True, and I should think about the fact that I will probably have the bag for 8+ years.  I think I will go with the 5.11 bag.  Thanks for the advice.

edit:  I just bought the bag.  It should arrive in a couple of days.  Hope I like it.  Thanks for the advice.
