I just bought a remington 700 in a .270 with leather sling, and tasco 3x9 scope for $200. The rifle had only been shot 8 times. Is this a good deal?

Once I get back in my better half's good graces, I plan on shopping on Ebay for a leupold or similar type scope.

having had 2 simmons already, I can say without any doubt that they were the 2 worst piece of optics i've ever seen.

I have a Leupold Vari-X II 3-9X40, and a Nikon Monarch 3-9X40. Both are excellent scopes that are under $300.

Vari-X III's run a hundred or more dollars than the II's, and have multi-coated lenses and 1/4" click adjustments.

All my friends laughed when they found out my Leupold cost as much as my rifle, until they shot it. Spend the money for good optics.

Nikon's Buckmaster series is "the best bang for the buck" hands down.

I've become a fan of the bushnell Legend line as of last week. I recently got a 22-250 Browning A bolt Varmint and was waiting for the intended scope to come is but untill then I mounted on a Legend 5-15. Took it out to the range to zero it in and after doing so I walked a target out to 200 yards. I got a 1.5" group at 200 yards. Not bad for a scope that cost under 200 bucks! Heres the target.
