Stared the Koi Pond project today.  Got quite a bit done...

Low point of the day - buddy runs into my car with his truck..

Phase II next weekend.

Cool. Do you have a dog? I was wondering if my dog would screw with a pond if I made one.

Thanks. I dont have a dag, but I doubt they could do anything too destructive (aside from digging I suppose). When its done, the liner will be tucked into the earth and there will be a pretty extensive rock border on it. My Dr. has a pond and a pretty big dog and has not had any problems for the last few years with him. Let me know if you decide to do it, Ill be glad to share some of the do's and don'ts that I learned.

Cool, post pics after it's all done. If I do a pond it will be after I sell this hou7se in about 6 months, and would be at the new house, obviously. I just always thought they were nice.

Yeah I plan on it. Just been getting really shitty weather here, so things have slowed a bit. Hope to finish it by mid next week...

Well, I've been putting in some crazy shifts, but it's starting to take shape.  Can't wait for the groundcover that I planted in the beds around the pond start filling in.  Next step is finishing the gravel beach and placing pond plants...

Dougie, if you dont have a lot of trees over it, or leaves blowing around your yard, with the right filters, maintenance isn't that bad.

Dougie, July 1st we're gonna do some training, then the club (and a lot of other people) are coming here for a big bash. You are more than welcome to join us if you like.

Looking good. Another question though, what about mosquitoes? Or do the fish take care of those?

The fish do take them out, but the important thing is to have good surace motion. If you have water ripples, the mosquitos wont come.

The whole thing ran me about $3000.00 - that includes filtration, pump, rocks, landscaping....Keep in mind that I got the liner free, so Im not sure what that is worth. Its important to get a good pump and filter so that maintenance is easier. Yeah its a Japanese Maple. I got a weeping one because they do not grow that big. I didnt want the roots to grow into the pond side, so I went with the smaller type. Cant wait till next year to see how its grown in. I think Im going to go to the nursery and get some more stuff....
