I cannot believe that Walcott is in the squad, he hasn't even played a first team game for Arsenal. Ridiculous. No Wright Phillips, he must be well pissed off at Chelsea. Not happy with Hargreaves and Jenas being in there. I'm glad Lennon and Downing are in for a bit of flair. Thoughts?

My thoughts are there are 4 great ex-west ham players in the squad...I wish we had more money!!!! I actually know nothing about Walcott and Lennon. Literally. Being over here makes following teams hard. I'm a little surprised Sven hasn't given any love at all to Harewood. He has had an amazing year, scoring important goals against Prem teams all year. But you say this kid Walcott hasnt' even played for the first team???

He signed for Arsenal in January from Southampton and he has yet to make his Premier League first team debut for Arsenal. Wonder how pissed off that makes Defoe and Bent.

Put it this way, we have 2 injured strikers, 1 who has never played in the premier league before and Crouch. Mental!

Plenty pissed. But that aside, it seems like an absolutely unbelievable decision by Sven.

Absolute farce IMO. What is the point in picking Jenas and Hargreaves? 2 of the most invisible footballers ever. Waste of fucking time.

I don't understand how he can pick Walcott and then not even have Wright-Phillips as a standby because (presumably) he hasn't played in Chelsea's first team enough.

I think he thought he had to choose between SWP and Lennon as they are very similar players. I'm more pissed off at Hargreaves and Jenas.

I don't think both Hargreaves and Jenas were needed. Despite them both being shit, I think calling up one of them is inevitable. At least Wright-Phillips would have provided another attacking option, which is going to be our main problem at the WC.

If he was going to pick another midfielder I'd rather have Reo-Coker or Nolan than either Jenarse or Hargreaves. He's obviously going to play 4-5-1. I hope he plays Joe Cole or Gerrard up front and not Crouch.

SWP not even being on the standby list is more than a little strange when you look at some of the others on the lists.

I'm not too bothered about Walcott being in. Once you get past Owen and Rooney, it's not like there is any stellar alternative. Nobody is going to be saying in July "well we would have won the World Cup if Darren Bent has played". Only one manager in the entire world would pick Hargreaves on a regular basis. Lucky for him it happens to be Sven. Play a holding midfielder(Carrick or whoever) then have Gerrard unleashing hell further up the field. Works for me
