Opening Numbers Last Week to win Entire Welterweight Tourney ..........
-Paulo Filho +250
-Akihiro Gono +800
-Amar Suloev  +1450
-Gegard Mousasi +2750
-Denis Kang +3000
-Ryo Chonan +3400
-Kazuo Misaki +4500
-Field (Any fighter not listed above) +600

This could be a huge payday for someone with Henderson more than likely out of the tournament. Anybody have any of these guys? Who do you like to win the whole thing?

It is funny how so many think the news is not big. I said from the first break of the news, that this is HUGE. I followed the Japanese scene pretty close several years back, and still communicate with some people who know that industry inside and out. Here is a good piece on this story. www.fightopinion.com Yomiuri Hochi reports that with Fuji TV canceling their contract with PRIDE, DSE & Nobuyuki Sakakibara are looking towards Tokai TV in Nagoya to perhaps carry the Hustle Aid 6/17 Saitama Super Arena event. Tokai TV is home territory for Sakakibara, as he came from this television background. The Yomiuri article quotes a source saying that the Fuji TV contract with PRIDE was worth several hundred million yen a year, and that foreign fighters are paid a lot of money. Without the TV money, those foreign fighters cannot be paid the same salaries, and with this problem PRIDE ?disappearing? is just a matter of time. The article also states that DSE is consulting with their lawyers now about what options the company has next, and that Sakakibara will make a public statement on Wednesday (June 7th).

Henderson is 50/50 to fight in the tourney. He is still recovering from injury. Can you imagine the reprucussions of Pride closing up shop...... That would put a lot of tremendous talent on the open market. Wonder if Dana White would actually break the checkbook for some real heavyweights and legitimate competition for Liddell. Doubt it though as TUF fighters are easier to market and he can pay them much much less that the Nog's and Cro Cop's would demand.
