is there a way to set preferences so that if there are droped frames during capture fial cut does not scrap all the footage I was trying to capture. I just spent an hour putting in footage and then it hit a droped frame and got rid of everything. my comptuer and HVX are in danger of being thrown through my window...please save them

Yes...under User Preferences uncheck (in the General Section) "Abort capture on dropped frames"
