There is a video of a robbery where a guninstructor happen to be behind the counter. He shot the robber three times with a .40 before the guy got out the door. The thought of shooting someone with a .22 many times sounds good, but after the gun appears he may start to leave, after the first shot he may not know what the caliber is but does not want to find out. Hitting him many times may not be that easy. But years ago I read an article about a guy who was attacked by three robbers. He killed one and wounded a second with a Ruger MK II.

Patsmithfan - i have been looking at getting a handgun for awhile and shot a CZ75 b in 9 mill and really liked itanyone else tried these

I've got one of these and like it a lot. I've only had it a couple of months so I haven't done the torture test yet.
In Columbus there are a lot of used Sigs from German police trade ins - they are nice guns and can be had for less than $300 (they retail for close to $800 here new). I generally like shooting a heavier gun with a longer barrel but they are tough to conceal.

The more handguns I shoot the more I like my dad's old S&W model 13. Revolvers are unfairly shit on these days but a good one is ultra reliable, pretty accurate and 357 magnum hollow points can fuck you like in a car crash. I'm not a huge fan of the snubs though. I'd have to move to Alaska to carry the guns I like to shoot.

I was just reading an article on the new S&W snubnose revolvers.

The 357 is an 8 shot, all black, she is beautiful.

It comes in 44 spl, 44 mag, 38spl and 357 mag. Amount of rounds depends on the gun.

But the 357 in a 4 inch barrel would be a great choice. Great for home defense, carry under a lose shirt, great for hunting companion, or hiking companion.

Then go to the range and shoot 38spl's all day due to cheap ammo.

And with 8 shots it carry's plenty of firepower.

"357 magnum hollow points can fuck you like in a car crash."

Lol, 357 is a good round, but no pistol caliber will reliably stop people unless you destroy vital CNS or Cardio/Respiratory structures. How fucked up people will get depends entirely on where you place the holes.

Also, I would rethink 357 for home defense . . . it's really loud. If you ever have to use it indoors without hearing protection you are almost certain to have permanent hearing damage.

Is it really worth it when the lower pressure rounds will also kill people just fine?

Personally, I would go with any reliable 9mm or 45ACP pistol and leave the magnum caliber revolvers for hunting.

Fake Pie - "I'd recommend a real caliber though, like a 10mm"Doesn't 10mm = .40?

Diameter-wise, yes. But the actual rounds arent the same. The .40 is a cutdown 10mm. Kind of like how a 30-30 and a .308 are the same caliber, but very different. (.22 vs. .223 also the same, you get the point)
