There is no way that is Flipper. I know because we killed him the fishing trip prior to this one :)

Unreal, it seems like one of those photoshoped pics of sharks eating helicopters. I had no idea they jumped out of the water, let alone that high. Thanks Gordon.

BTW, we didn't catch the Mako. We got it to about 30 ft from the boat before it took its last run and broke the line. I guess that means I am only guilty of attempted murder :)

Next time drive the boat under the shark when he jumps out of the water - easiest catch ever.

We were actually concerned when we got the shark to the boat it would jump in the boat. Of course they had no gun on board. They had planned to tail hook it and drag it behind the boat to drown it. All I know was that I was getting out of the way when that fish got near the boat.

Oh God! Now I'm afraid to go in the water again. Please remove those ugly shark pictures.

Just curious why you kill the sharks? Why not get him next to the boat, get a good photo live release? Large sharks and rays are slowly disappearing from our oceans, seems pointless to kill them for fun. also G.H., are you the Gordon Hester from G+S skate/surf company?

JackFunk, We didn't kill the shark. Actually I haven't killed one in years and always let them go. I number of years ago I caught a lemon shark which is actually fairly good eating. We cut it open to bleed it out and a number of babies dropped out of the shark. Since then shark fishing has been about fun, not food. In our area, the sharks are thick this time of year. There are limitations of keeping one shark per day. However, you can catch them by the boat loads if that is your wish. I do not own any skate/surf company. Fishing is only a hobby for me. I do agree with your comments about killing sharks. The only fish I kill are those I will eat (grouper, snapper, tuna, etc). I don't even hunt because I don't like to kill animials. The best part of the trip noted in this thread was that we got the pictures but the fish got away.

Nice to hear that it's catch and release! I too will harvest certain fish for food, but generally catch and release when possible. awesome pics btw.

I use my regular name on FS but don't post there much. I probably have posted 10-20 times in the last 4 years.

I grew up hanging out at seaquarium with my bud who's dad was the captain of their boat. You really don't want to see a dolphin go apeshit..........much scarier than a shark.
