Hey my bad. Didnt realize that there was a travelground. Thought if you guys missed it, you'd want to see some pics I took in Korea Its been a pretty good summer for me, just having graduated college and realizing its the last before I go serve out the next 6 years starting this fall. I've gone to Las Vegas, back home to LA, hung out in Santa Barbara, San Diego, hiked the Grand Canyon, saw the dirty strippers in TJ. And I finally got to go to Korea for the first time EVER for a month and a half. I only have an aunt and uncle left in Korea, but they are loaded, so they hooked me up and occasionally had their driver take me and my friends places. My uncle was generous enough to let me and my friend crash at his office which was located in the heart of one of the more popular nightlife areas. The subway system is immaculate! They even have docks for your cell phone battery in each car, and it'll charge a dead battery in 30 min. for a fee of a few won of course. Everything is either really expensive or really cheap. Anything that is not Korean, is expensive. A bottle of corona for example was like $9.50, while a bottle of soju (korean rice wine 20% alcohol that everyone takes as shots) is 3 dollars at a bar. American liquor is priced at least 4-5x the price we pay per bottle here. I saw a bottle of Jack Daniels go for 200 bucks at a bar. They have jobs for the most mundane things, like at malls, they have 20 people or so in the underground parking garages that direct and divert traffic to fill in all possible spots. They even wear matching uniforms. They even have a woman whose sole job is to bow to every car that stops for a validation ticket at the entrance. LOL They have 8 story malls that are dedicated to only electronics and DVDs. With girls dancing on platforms outside the malls. Korean girls that are good looking seem to gather in the shopping malls. I met alot of girls here. Since I don't live there, I pretty much went up to any girl in the street, subway, bar, coffee shop that I found attractive. Easy to get the phone number, harder to meet for a first date, even harder to sleep with them. Out of 12 phone numbers, I actually only met 3 girls. This is coming from a soldier who used to be enlisted as well. There are lots of soldiers acting like idiots at the bars and clubs, I can see why the younger crowd resents them. Clubs are lame! The hip-hop clubs I went to consisted of Korean dudes who dress all banged out with Bandanas and dickies. At first I thought they were bangers from LA, but no they just copy the music videos. LOL I went karokeeing alot as well, they love to sing here, and everything closes at 5AM, so a typical night with friends goes from dinner, bar, club, cafe, karokee, then home or to a love motel with a girl. Everyone lives at home with their parents until they get married pretty much, so they have love motels all over the place. You pay 50 bucks for a room thats clean, has a bathroom, stocked with water, soda, condoms and free porn. FTA protest One of the more "traditional" shopping districts. I had him for dinner. Just kidding, its a Gindo, a korean breed. Snake wine, I had a sip of it and thought I saw a bit of scale, I puked. DMZ

I was in Korea for a year and a half and it was some of the best times of my life! I did not get to travel around the country nearly as much as I would have liked to, but I still loved it. I was stationed right outside of Seoul near a town called Songnam. We would take a bus into Iteawon and live it up regularly.
