For those that carry it, how's the Taser issue going in your areas? We had one ICD that is under review but should come out alright.

All I can tell you is that is one ride I really have no desire to take agian.

Five seconds of misery for sure. In our agency like many others, the Taser can be used against someone who is offering what we call Active Physical Resistance defined by Pushing, Pulling, Tensing, Bracing or otherwise actively physically thwarting an officers attempt at physical control. An officer need not necessarily go hands on prior to using the Taser and the subject need not be aggressive or violent. Of course, it does look better to the public review boards if the officer makes an effort to use physical control first unless it appears that the officer was clearly at a physical disadvantage due to size, etc. Interesting also that our agency actively discourages the use of the "Drive Stun" in favor of using the Probes. The accountability factor of being able to match the internal memory download vs the number of "signature marks" left on the bad guy is a big bonus for the legal department.
