Someone beat this clown before he makes a mockery of Marciano's record, who contrary to popular belief fought the best guys that were available for him.

These two names should never ever be used in the same sentence.

This just proves what a joke boxing is getting to be. I can't believe how the sport has declined in every way since Lennox Lewis quit.

"He has KO's but in all honesty he has NO power unless he hits you perfect." 32 times is a lot of times to hit perfect for someone who sucks.

Marciano was a legend. Everybody brings up how he fought an over the hill Archie Moore. But nobody brings up the fact Ali fought this same Moore a decade later. Or how Liston was in his late 40's when Ali beat him. Marciano started boxing later in life than anyone else who became Champion. His work ethic was second to none, he fought all comers. After their fight Joe Louis said that Marciano would have beat him at any point in his career. Marciano had one of the hardest rights in boxing history, his endurance was awesome, he kept his Ko power to the final bell. This Russian isnt in the same universe as Marciano. Read the book Undefeated.

toddseney said: "Rocky fought the best fighters available" really? do some research dude. thing is Marciano fought all the best names on his record @ the end of their careers. All old and finished. Marciano was a bum w/gawd-power. I live near Brockten and cant stand how he's held in such high regard. He gets dropped cold in his last fight and quits the game. Phooey. Valuev doesnt even have any old guy names in his record. Dont anyone say Ruiz either.

I'm kind of curious how Marciano can be criticized for only fighting for 8 years, yet at the same time be accused of waiting for all his opponents to get old before he fought them. I suppose in troll land this sort of logic must make some sort of sense.

Gator, I understand that you feel that Marciano was overrated, but your claims regarding Marciano's retirement are comically misplaced. Marciano retired shortly following his fight against Moore on 9/21/55. At that time: Sonny Liston was an unknown convict with 14 fights; Cleveland Williams in the middle of a 26 month absence from boxing following his third round knockout loss to 176 pound Bob Satterfield. Zora Folley was 3 months removed from a knockout loss to Jonny Summerlin and 3 months away from a knockout loss to Young Jack Johnson; Floyd Patterson was still viewed as a frail prospect who had lost a year earlier to Joey Maxim.

Please name one person Marciano did duck. I been hearing this crap for years and so far no one can come up with one name. Before he retired he offered Floyd Patteson a title shot but D'Amato said no way. His plan was to simply let Patterson wait until Rocky retired. He knew Rocky would have demolished Floyd.

As far as Archie Moore being much smaller, he was exactly the same height and weighed in for the fight heavier than Marciano. After the knockdown he tried to take Rocky's head off. Watch the film.

Teddy Atlas said that Marciano is both the most overrated and underrated champ of all time. I think this thread proves that. That being said, there are very few guys who matched against Rocky prime vs. prime -- who I think would have beaten him. He simply would have found a way to land his bomb. Atlas went on to say that part of Marciano's greatness was that even though some guys like Shavers hit harder they could not always land their bomb when they really had to (like Shavers against Ali), but Rocky always found a way to land Susie-Q when he needed to. He found the way.
