Hey I thought of a project. Since we had so much fun on the determinism thread and it was quite useful then I thought of the following: We could choose an article and everyone would read it and then we´d discuss it for a week (or longer if needed). We could do it twice a month etc. It would IMO also be good if a certain amount of persons would say that they definately are IN in the project. These persons could everyone choose an article once in a while and would also be the one leading the discussion or preparing the article in depth. This thread here would be a good place to discuss all the details. Who is game, how often we could do it, how long time for the reading of the article, how long time for discussion etc. Greets, Indrek P.S I have a few articles in mind already ;)

Sounds like a nice idea, eventhough I´m not 100% sure that I could join in all the time. Tell us about what articles you had in mind? :-)

Great idea. May I suggest Quine's "Epistemology Naturalized" as the first article? Not only is it an important article, I am currently writing a paper on it ;)

Quine is nice. We could read his classic "Two Dogmas of empiricism" also. I had Bernard Williams´s "Internal/external reasons" in mind and a host of others :) But let´s discuss the details: How often? How much time for reading? Open time for discussion? Who will be definately in and will choose the articles... etc. I.

I think anyone can suggest articles, and then it´s free to join in for the ones that think they can spare the time. The ones that join in, can agree on the time for reading etc. I think that kind of free approach will work best, but that is just my 2 cents.

Ok Since winnidon wanted us to read Quine then he will be the first one. Start a thread on it and then we will agree on a date when we will all have read it. You could also post where we could find it (books, journals) or e-mail it to us if you happen to have an online version. Greets, Indrek

I don't have an electronic copy of the article. I'll look for one. In the meantime the article "Epistemology Naturalized" was originally published in W.V. Quine, Ontological Relativity and Other Essays (New York: Columbia University Press, 1969), 69-90. It is also available in numerous other anthologies so it should be quite easy to find.

Do a separate topic and we can discuss the time when we have all read it! I can get the book from the library. How about others?
