Who here has done this?? I have one or more of these fuckers shitting all over my back yard. I've been told that once you catch them in a trap that's just the half of it....they are beyond mean ....and I don't have a truck. Trappers want $165 to lay the trap and $75 per animal caught...that is too much IMO. Can I handle picking that cage up and getting it to the trunk of my car?....keep in mind, I'm a pussy.

If I can do it, you can do it. Get some heavy gloves.

call animal control or animal shelter. even the county might come and get them due to the fact one or more could have rabies.

Gloves? It's a raccoon. They're not going to find the body. Just bury it in your backyard and wipe the gun down.

live trap it and then shoot it with a .22 in the brain.

the raccoon will find its way home.

Couple of things. 1) I don't have a gun and even if I did, you can't just fire one in your back yard where I live(i checked) 2) Xtina - you are tougher than me (believe me) 3) No one is going to come and do it for me for free...I checked on that as well.

Yes I`ve done it. Sometimes local game wardens or sheriff dept. have live traps they loan out. Yes you can handle it yourself. They open easily so you can let the coon out without touching it. Believe me it will run off and not attack you.. (lol) Goddamn city boys are such pussies when it comes to critters.

lol.. Yes your Volvo will be fine. Just lay down this mornings copy of the Wall Street Journal and you are good to go. It will growl and shit, but it won`t be able to bite you.

just fill a barrel with water. catch the coon. dip the cage in the water. pull out when the bubbles stop. cut off head and stick on stake as a warning to others. stephen

If you shoot a .22 in your back yard, people will think it is a firecracker. Use one round and you are fine.

What kind of grown man doesn't own a gun?

blue marlin or blue death as it is also known will kill it before it walks a hundred feet. Mix it with mountain dew and it's like candy to those fuckers.

From the interweb "Adults have few natural enemies, although young are threatened by the great horned owl, wolf, coyote, large snakes and bobcat." You need to get more owls and coyotes. That'll clear up that raccoon problem in no time. Well, the younguns at least.

Clint - you cannot leave open poison...I was told this is the number 1 rule of trapping. If I killed the neighbors cat I'd feel a little bad, wouldn't you?

No idea.  Maybe mix some with something a coon may like to eat?  I do know that they'll eat it and they will die a horrible death.  Watch out for neighborhood children or pets also dying, though.

This is the same kind of trap I used.  You'll still need gloves.

Raccoons like wet cat food, btw.

If they jump around forcefully enough, they can spring the front door back open.  It would be wise to tie the door shut with wire or something before putting the trap in the back of your car, if you plan on doing that.

lol, we leave it open all the time, but cats are a nuisance because they are wild and breed like crazy.

Also you do not need to use food, you can use and empty can of tuna.
