I think he's got about 4-5 rds to win the fight.  I expect him to MIR, I mean gas,  after that and get outworked badly.

Sergei gets hit a lot and might get KO'd in those early rounds.

I really like the under in this one no matter which way it goes. I am rooting for Briggs, but have a feeling he will be gone by the 7th round.

Source: Briggs' weight skewed, won't last long

By Jason Logan

Fri, Nov 3, 2006

Saturday night's alright for fighting, according to Elton John, and with WBO heavyweight champion Sergei Liakhovich defending his title against American challenger Shannon Briggs, boxing fans should see an overload of the sweet science this weekend.

Both men weighed in Thursday with the Liakhovich coming into the fight at 238 pounds, while Briggs' recorded weight was listed at 268 pounds.

"This is a little skewed," says professional handicapper Sonny Palermo. "I heard he came in at more than that. Something around like 280 or 285. I'm looking to take under eight and a half rounds on this one. Even when Briggs is in his best shape, he is not a go-the-distance guy."

Briggs, who is known more for his power than his boxing skill, has gone more than seven rounds only twice in his career with both fights resulting in losses. He is 47-4-1 in his career with 41 off those wins coming from knockouts. While Briggs has the ability to change the fight with one punch, oddsmakers have set him as a +200 underdog for Saturday's fight.

"I know he is going to come out swinging and I know he is going to try and throw a lot of hard punches," Liakhovich (23-1, 14 KOs) told reporters. "But he needs to think about every time he swings, he is going to get hit."

Liakhovich is one of four heavyweight champions from former Russian Republics but now lives in Scottsdale, Arizona. His trainers remain confident his defense can withstand the early barrage of punches from Briggs and will out-box his opponent as the fight continues.

"I think Briggs has about five rounds to win the fight," says Joey Odessa, an offshore boxing oddsmaker. "If this was a six round bout, Briggs would be the favorite and a healthy one. I think he will likely gas out after that. The bout should be lower than the -260`s that are floating around. They were bet it up from my opener, but I can see it dropping late."

Boxing bettors have piled some cash on the American, forcing the line on Liakovich to drop to -220 for the Don King promoted fight that can be seen on Showtime, live from Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. The card also features eight other fights including three title events, with the Briggs-Liakhovich heavyweight bout set as the main event.

"With heavyweights, it only takes one punch. I couldn't lay this number though," says Odessa of the current money
