Right, it may actually be in his interest NOT to sign for a club that big, where the competition is world class.

i'm guessing it'll cost between 1.5-4 million depending on how big a year he has this season. figure even though he's not one of the top 10 players in mls right now he is THEY most recognizable name in america in MLS right now so for MLS to give that up they will ask for quite a bit.

If they get him for 4 million he'll probably pay for himself in kit sales in the US. Manchester United is the most recognizable club over here, plenty of people will buy his jersey.

i think him signing in europe will be watched greatly in america and will ultimately play a big role in soccer becoming mainstream professionally here. if he goes there and is succesful it gives america kids an example of a young american going over there and being succesful(even though they have examples of guys like mcbride and others doing well they aren't as well known to the common american sports fan as adu is!)

It'd be worth signing him just for the merchandise revenue it will generate in the States.

Adu has to sign with a smaller club in Europe. His game is not developed enough to get time at a top level European club. He has not shown the well rounded skill set of young players like Rooney or Fabregas when they were his age.
