Here in MS, we are allowed to use a single shot rifle (.38 caliber and up) rather than a muzzleloader. Anybody else get to do this?

nope, Primitive weapons for my province are: archery Muzzleloader Crossbow (which is allowed during shotgun season, iirc)

i bought a 45.70 last year. it is just a single shot but it is so much better than a muzzleloader

next year they're opening "pistol caliber-rifles" for firearms season...rifles are a no-no here so this is a good excuse for a new gun. 45-70 will probably be what I go with.

I don't think .45-70 qualifies as a pistol caliber.
