I used to like Hiaasen but, as pointed out above, he is formulaic, he tends to bash on rednecks endlessly in his novels and at times, he seems to have no real clue about some of the topics he has written about (poor research IMHO).

Just finished it. It is an amusing read, by no means a compelling classic. As funny as Sick Puppy.

I am reading another hilarious novel. It's called Hollywood Station by Joseph Wambaugh. Wambaugh served for 15 years in the LAPD and he sure knows the funny side of the job.

I picked up Sick Puppy due to Hiaasen being mentioned with on the back of every Terry Pratchett book I own. Not as much LOL funny as Pratchett's earlier stuff but Hiassen has got an addicting writing style. I really enjoy his books alot. So far I've read Sick Puppy and Skin Tight and I'm going to read Tourist Season next.
