I'm in a slump for books at the moment. While waiting to get Nature Girl I bought Blood Meridian. Just getting into it really. A while back someone gave me Striptease to read. I thought it was simply excellent. The characters were so 'out there" I loved it. Stealing wheelchairs. Planting bugs in yogurt. It's just great. I think it wa Tourist Season with the second rate gangster trying to compete with Disneyworld and buys an $800 killer whale that performs well in practice. When the show starts though he swims to the bottom of the pool and farts. I love that shit!

A very Hiaasen-like writer is Laurence Shames. I just checked out Virgin Heat from the library. He also wrote Tropical Depression, Sunburn, Scavenger Reef, and Florida Straits among others.

Virgin Heat is good so far. It makes me feel like I've been to Key West.
