Since the NHL wants goals and lots of scoring would we be better off removing the goaltender from the game all together in order to continue to further sell the game to America. that way teams like Vancouver wouldn't be able to win on goaltending alone, and we would have final scores in comparison to the final shots we are seeing today, which some may argue is a more accurate reflection of who the better team is.

"Or we can just get rid of all the good ol' boy canadians that are holding the game back because they think spearing a guy with a stick is "tough, physical hockey"." Interesting. you wouldn't happen to be referring to the spear on Canadian superstar Crosby, and key to your franchises future existence, by the AMERICAN Jason Blake would you?

"You mean like blaming all of Toronto's losses on the referee's?" America's fault actually, as Bettman the American turd forcing refs to call games so horrible in order to again accomplish what he thinks is better for the game in America.

and doing anything to change the game to grow it in America is bad for the game, as has proven time and time again. lets cut the bullshit, America doesn't give a shit about skilled players. It's already the most skilled professional sprorts league in the world, so spare me that shit. it has nothing to do with skill, all comes down to American culture and hockey never having a place in it. bottom line.

The players on the ice should be protecting the stars, as it always had been. nate, your argument is flawed. Skilled players have always been respected in kanadia. Wayne Gretzky could probably run for Grand Poobah up here and win.

I couldn't bring myself to vote for Wayne as Grand Poobah. It would feel like I was cheating on Gordie. Mark

as opposed to the American way? two sets of rules, one for the rich and one for the poor type bullshit. sorry, but the stars should be subjected to the same treatment as anyone else... And second rate sports in comparison to what? American sports like baseball, basketball or football? I'll gladly take the game of hockey as a second rate sport any day over that shit.

and Nate you are the last guy who should be complaining with how disgracefully favoured your Pens are by the league. 4 pp goals and 1 penalty shot goal for your garbage team. is there a team in the league who has more powerplays? no one gets more weak powerplays than your mickey mouse franchise.

forget the no goalie rule. Every team should have a Raycroft clone! (can't believe we traded Rask for this nutjob). Well at least we have a chance at a top 5 pick this year.

"You know, I was really looking forward to watching the leafs show us some of that good old tough physical hockey but nobody on the leafs could keep their balance long enough to throw a punch. :-D " maybe if you had someone with the balls to step up to the Champ Wade "and still undsiputed" Belak, you would have got your wish. instead you had the refs feel sorry for your team who was up shits creek, so instead of allowing things to get real ugly for you, they decide to save your pansy team and kick the champ out for nothing.

"How did it feel to watch a fellow leaf nation member take off his jersey and hide it under his sweatshirt in shame on national tv, then swing around a Pens ballcap before putting it on his head? :-D" just a posing Pens fan trying to be a funny guy, but in reality there is nothing for them to be laughing about with their situation. congratulations on your second sell out of the year by the way with the other being against the Leafs from another Leafs nation invasion. how does it feel to have your home venue filled with more fans of an opposing team that isn't even in the playoffs?

"BTW how's Jordan Staal looking to you now?" He will look great in blue and white. He, Crosby or both will look excellent on the wings of Steen and Stajan.

"Makes me feel bad for leafs fans who have to travel to other arenas to see real superstars." leaf nation is all over the world, and fans who travel do so because they can't get tickets in a real hockey city Toronto, and have a much easier time getting tickets in a bandwagon town like Pittsburgh.

you mean fantasize about having a management that can't afford players, an ownership that goes bankrupt, a team that would have been wiped out had Bettman not saved them with a cap, and even with the cap they are still not safe, a team who had to suck year after year in order for their management to pick up no brainer draft selections.

" I agree to a point. But letting cheap shots go unpunished is what ruins the game. There's no reason why they can't get their ass beat and penalized/suspended also. But more and more it's getting overlooked again because of the old-school Canadian mind set that you just need to play through it because calling penalties changes the outcome of the game. As if breaking the rules doesn't do that already. You say you respect the stars but you go out of your way to prove your not showing favoritism by letting them get mugged. So the thugs who can't play get worshipped while the goal scorers get called babies and hockey continues to be considered a second-rate sport who doesn't care enough about their meal tickets to keep them safe. That's the Canadian way! " Seriously you have to be trolling pretty hard here, but i'll bite just a little. Nobody thinks the stars should get mugged or that players should never be suspended, i dunno where you're pulling that from? The crackdown on obstruction is fantastic, but players should still have to battle to get to the front of the net, back in the day guys like LaFleur or Orr would be able to fly through center without 3 guys waterskiing off their backs. They did however have to pay the price to get to the net, the D-men were allowed to battle for the turf out front and you needed some guts to do so, and all the stars of the past knew this and willingly paid the price. It's a bit sickening to see gutless pukes paying no price to go to the net and crashing into goalies, diving all over the place drawing ridiculous penalties. It's becoming soccer some nights and terrible to see. Despite Buttman's best efforts to appeal to what he thinks is the American public, softening the game actually is having the opposite effect. Outright mugging & cheapshots definitely deserve to be penalized and it always have been, nobody disarees with that. The league has always protected the star players, but regardless of what you believe it *is* a contact sport and a rough one.
