LOL, nice try. I'm glad your cats lived a long time. Either you lived in an very rural area with few cars and few animals for them to fight with, or they're a statistical anomaly. Either way, it's not a good idea to let your cat roam around outside if you want him to live a long, healthy life. Deny it and everyone here will know you're a fool given the evidence I've provided, not to mention the fact that ANY vet you ask will agree with me 100%. Yes, I guarantee, ANY. "Do you really think the humane society didn't give me their little - please cut your animals genitals off and lock him inside so he's safe bullshit?" Bullshit? Come on! Two points: 1) Do you deny that *in general* cats that are allowed to roam outside live much shorter lives? If not, how is the Humane Society's advice bullshit? 2) Do you deny that the reason there are thousands of stray cats being put to sleep every day is because owners don't get their cats fixed? If not, how is the Humane Society's advice bullshit? Also, that's completely ignoring the fact that unfixed male cats will usually piss all over your house and also decreases the risk of a variety of tumors in both sexes.

There's all kinds of dangerous shit for cats outside...cars, other animals, psycho kids with firecrackers and BB guns, not to mention rabies and other diseases. Plus, there's always the chance of the authorities picking them up and euthanizing them. You also have to think of your neighbors. I used to live in a house with stray cats always coming around. The little bastards would crap everywhere and spread fleas like crazy.

Man,. I am sorry. Something ate all three of my geese. I had them for years, since they were a few days old.

You know, even though he wasn't my cat he was part of the family here. He will be missed. I am gonna go check the pound tomorrow. It just sucks cause im working fri-monday and we can't even make arrangements for someone to feed him if he's not here. Thank you to the few people who offered kind words.

Keep checking the pound for a few months. I also lost my first cat a few years ago, probably road kill. I got my new cat collared, tagged etc.

The Old 97's know your pain.  You should download the song.  Great fucking tune.

Old 97`s - Murder (or A Heart Attack) Lyrics

And the hole
In the screen is barely big enough for you
And not near enough for me to go

And the whole damn complicated
Situation could`ve been
Avoided if I`d only shut the window

CHORUS:
And I may be leavin` myself open
To a murder or a heart attack
But I`m leavin` the back door open
`Til you come back, `til you come back

And I may be movin` myself closer
To a real untimely end
But I`m leavin` the back door open
`Til you come home again, `til you come home again

And I told
The neighbors, I put pictures up
And handed out some flyers at the show

And the whole town speculating
Situation could`ve been
Avoided if I`d only shut the window

"Letting your cat roam outside is cruel. It's like letting your 4 year old kid play around the neighborhood with no supervision - he ain't gonna last long." How is it cruel if they have fun being outside. Keeping them indoors because you want them to live longr can be selfish and cruel when they start to get old and have a shitty lifr from being old.

Sad news...we're just about to let our cat out for the first time on a regular basis since moving to the states. Got too many little things in the back yard that need to be brought down a peg or 2....though I'm not sure what kind of a job our cat will do, she is a pussy in more than one sense.

Govnor,

I put my cat out on a leash. It's about 15-20 feet long. There's a couple places I clip the fucker to.

It took him a while, but he's pretty much figured the thing out now. It's funny because he knows when you grab the harness and helps you put in on.

I was going to get a fence, but a fence can't keep a cat in.

My fence keeps my cat in. My backyard is fenced in. The fence is about belly button height on me (5'10"). In the 5 years I have been letting him out he has never gotten out of the fenced area. Not saying he couldn't if he wanted to but he is too fat and possibly to stupid to fiqure it out. It is nice to be able to let him out knowing he will not go anywhere. If you leave the gate open he is gone though.

LOL at Notso...even a fat cat could jump that high...he must be pretty stupid! I wish my cat was like that though...I know she'll be straight over our 6 footer.

PatK - we actually want her to scare the Chipmonks, Squirels and Rabbits away...if they see her on a leash they're gonna take the piss out of her all day long!!! LOL.

Govnor,

Our cat can still fuck with the yard critters, he just can't chase them too far or up the tree.

If they had some kind of "invisible fence" thing for cats like they do for dogs, I'd be all over it.

I need for her to grow a pair and go after the Rabbits under our yard barn....so the leash won't work there.

Hot Carl probably hitched a ride to Vegas and is livin large as we speak. "LOL, nice try. Yes, I guarantee, ANY." What a bunch of fucking nonsense. I had two stray cats that my family adopted as a kid and both of those fools lived over twelve years. But I'm sure they were both just a statistical anomaly. lol Plus our vet laughs at you.
