Earning your Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt is perhaps one of the most common goals among BJJ players when they strap on the white belt for the first time. But to reach that goal you are going to have to be endlessly tapped out by black belts from every position on the training mats.

Of course, when you’re in the safety of your own gym, your instructor will roll with you being fully aware of your current abilities, but what if you found yourself facing a BJJ black belt who wasn’t going to hold back despite you being a lower rank?

In the following clip, 14-year-old green belt Sydney James found herself across the mats facing a legitimate black belt in a NAGA grappling match.

“Team Lloyd Irvin green belt Sydney James found herself with a black belt in her division this weekend. As a yellow & orange belt, she was beating adult blue belts in naga. She was forced to bump up per naga rules. She was excited to compete against the purple belts. But then discovered there was a legit black belt in her division and at the tender age of 14 she would have her first battle with a black belt in competition.”

Check out how she fares below.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art, combat sports system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger, heavier assailant by using proper technique, leverage, and most notably, taking the fight to the ground, and then applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat the opponent. BJJ training can be used for sport grappling tournaments, mixed martial arts competition and self-defense purposes.  [Source: Wiki]
