8th degree: Ashton Kutcher could out grapple McGregor

Saturday, May 28, 2016

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is talking about paring back the rules of MMA, and having a boxing match with the greatest boxer of his generation, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. No one outside of Ireland thinks McGregor wins that one, except at the bank.

Now 8th degree BJJ black belt Rigan Machado has another opponent that he believes would take McGregor in a scaled back combat sports contest – Ashton Kutcher.

“My friend, Ashton Kutcher, for me, is my #1 student,” said Machado to TMZ Sports. “He’s one of the toughest guy[s] I have in the school. Across the board. He’s a purple belt, but he has a good background in wrestling. I think he has a chance to be one of the top guys in jiu-jitsu.”

Machado was then asked about a match with McGregor.

“I put all my money [on] Ashton Kutcher. I think he could do really, really good. He’s 200 pounds, 6-2, 6-3. He’s the best.”

So would Ashton do Conor like Nate Diaz did him?

“On the ground, yes,” said Machado.

Returning to reality, Machado also noted that Kutcher had not been in the gym this year.

“He hurt his foot,” explained Machado. “He broke his foot a while back. The last time I saw him was five months ago. … I hope he come[s] back. He [will] come back.”

If you needed any more convincing, here is a pic of the purple belt, wearing a black belt, that no one apparently ever showed him how to tie.

Here’s Kutcher with the correct belt on, but that tricky belt tying technique still seems a little out of reach.
