U.S. President Barack Obama has also practiced Taekwondo and earned a green belt. The president studied taekwondo for four years, from 2001-2005, when he was a junior senator in Illinois.
In 2009 Obama was given an honorary black belt in taekwondo by South Korean President Lee Myung-Bak.

Alberto Crane founded Gracie Barra in Encino, California, in January, 2009, Gracie Barra Pasadena in 2010 and Gracie Barra Burbank in 2011. The Academy focuses on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts and Muay Thai Boxing. He now has founded LEGACY Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Burbank, California where he teaches and trains.
