Tool’s Maynard James Keenan training BJJ with Cat Zingano

Tool’s Maynard James Keenan is a very interesting, unique dude with many different interests. One of his passions in life is Brazilian jiu-jitsu and he has received his purple belt in that art back in 2015 which is nothing to scoff at.

He also received that purple belt from the legendary Rickson Gracie which makes it even more super impressive. In the following video we see Maynard James training with UFC fighter Cat Zingano where he demonstrates a cool move to take someone down right to half guard.

The move starts when someone has a front grab on you then you respond by ‘combing your hair’ as Keenan refers to it as, by sweeping your elbow and arm downwards under your opponents grip. From there you look too change levels and hook your leg behind your opponent’s then drive forward tripping them to the mat and landing in half guard.

Ending up in half guard opposed to full guard is much better as you are that much closer to side mount or full mount which is a much more dominant position to be in.

His training partner in the video, Cat Zingano, fights in the UFC’s bantamweight division where she is currently ranked the number sixth contender in the world.
