Fans brawl in cinema after watching Mayweather vs. McGregor
Not content with having just watched the most talked about fight of the year on the big screen, English fans were filmed fighting each other in a mass brawl at a cinema after the Mayweather vs. McGregor bout came to an end on Saturday night.
The fight broke out at around 5.30am in the morning at the Vue Cinema in Bury, England, with the action on the screen behind them showing that it began just minutes after Conor McGregor was TKO’d in the tenth round of his blockbuster boxing match with Floyd Mayweather.
”There was probably about 30 people involved,” one observer told the Manchester Evening News. “There was only about three security guards.
“The staff did their best but they were clearly outnumbered. It was clear some of the people involved had been drinking.”
A spokeswoman for Vue Cinema later noted that this had been an isolated incident and that no one had been seriously injured, pointing out that a further 46 venues across the UK had screened the boxing match without any reports of trouble breaking out.
”Vue screened the fight to over 8,500 customers across 47 cinemas,” the spokeswomen said.
“Cinemas had increased security, strict access policies and procedures and strict alcohol policies in place. We can confirm there was one incident which took place. The safety and security of our staff and customers remain our top priority at all times.”
There were, however, other incidents of scuffles being caught on camera elsewhere around the globe, with one video showing a chair being thrown at bar staff at a pub in the Canary Islands as the Mayweather Vs McGregor fight was still ongoing in the background.
Another video from a beer garden at the Surfer’s Paradise Tavern in Australia showed several people letting their fists fly after the conclusion of the fight.
