Newly released footage of McGregor-Malignaggi sparring session

Friday, December 01, 2017

Brand new footage from the Conor McGregor and Paulie Malignaggi sparring session has recently been released and, as we can see in the below video, somebody gets cracked HARD early in the video.

Malignaggi, the former WBA welterweight champion, was brought in to help McGregor prepare for Floyd Mayweather but that quickly went awry after an overzealous sparring session that left an out of shape Malignaggi battered and bruised.

Malignaggi insists the clips of the sparring, like this one, doesn’t tell the full story of what really happened during the sessions but when there is zero evidence to the contrary it doesn’t look good for him.

What may have preceded the bitter conflict between these two were some derogatory comments Malignaggi made about McGregor’s skills before the Mayweather fight was even made. It is likely that McGregor didn’t take too kindly to Malignaggi’s statements and may have wanted to get even, so to speak.

Nevertheless, it seems as if McGregor’s sessions with Malignaggi did end up being beneficial after all, as according to Malignaggi himself, there was some improvement made by McGregor from the first time they sparred to the second session.

This kind of hard training ultimately seemed to pay dividends in the big fight with Mayweather which saw McGregor be very competitive, especially early on, which many in the boxing community thought would never happen.

While McGregor performed incredibly well, especially considering he had not only never boxed before but he was also fighting one of the greatest boxers ever, boxing is still not his sport and he still has plenty of work left to do in MMA and many eager challengers waiting for their shot.

There are also a couple of big names in the boxing world rumored to want a shot at McGregor, including Manny Pacquiao, as well as former sparring partner Paulie Malignaggi, who more than likely won’t appreciate this kind of footage being released.
