Tyron Woodley films Floyd Mayweather Sr threatening to KO McGregor fan
Judging by this video clip, Floyd Mayweather Sr. is the living embodiment of the old phrase, ‘You can take the dog out of the fight, but you can’t take the fight out of the dog.’
The footage, filmed by UFC welterweight champion Tryon Woodley at a media event prior to the Mayweather vs. McGregor event, shows Mayweather Sr. threatening to knock out a fan of Conor McGregor.
It’s not clear what the teenage, bespectacled McGregor supporter may have said prior to the video beginning, but in all fairness, it doesn’t take much to get Mayweather Sr. hot under the collar.
”I wanna whoop his ass for real right now,” Mayweather told a Sirius XM Rush radio show as the incident unfolded while he was being interviewed alongside other celebrities like Ice Cube and Michael Rapaport.
”He’s scared to go back that way,” Mayweather continued, pointing to the exit. “He knows I’m going to whoop his ass so damn bad, they’ll send him back upstairs and ain’t nobody gonna know him!”
Senior is, of course, the father of legendary undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr, and was himself a professional pugilist between 1974 and 1990, racking up a 28-6-1 career record in the ring.
Unlike his two brothers, Roger and Jeff, Mayweather Sr. never won a major title during his time in the sport but was known for his defensive abilities and that was something he passed on to his son, who would go on to become one of the best boxers of all-time.
In the present day Mayweather Sr is 64-years-old, but even now the urge to throw hands is still as strong as ever.
Thankfully on this occasion, he didn’t actually get physical with the cocky fan, though he did do some shadow boxing in front of his foe to show him what would have happened if they had duked it out.
Mayweather Sr. is well known for these kinds of outspoken antics, and indeed during the MayMac world tour in July he burst into a Conor McGregor press conference and heckled the UFC superstar, claiming he’d knock him out in a fight.
However, McGregor took it all in his stride, good-naturedly teasing the elderly Mayweather, “You’re a fan, senior. Come on, admit it. I can spot a fan a mile away. It’s in your eyes.”
