Grandmaster Dan Inosanto reveals one of Bruce Lee’s biggest secrets
Guru Dan Inosanto was a close personal friend of the late, great Bruce Lee and one of his main training partners back in the day. In many ways, Dan Inosanto carried on Bruce’s work and legacy following his very untimely and tragic death.
In this video, we see Dan Inosanto reveal supposedly one of Bruce Lee’s biggest secrets that may come as a shock to many.
According to Dan, Bruce Lee wasn’t at a super-high rank in Wing Chun like many thought him to be and still had some work to do with that art.
Like Dan says, though, belts and ranks do not really paint the entire picture and just because someone does not have a Masters degree or Ph.D., like he puts it, doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t know as much.
What I also find kind of interesting about this revelation is that what we now know about martial arts, thanks to MMA, is that Wing Chun isn’t a very effective style. Perhaps Bruce saw something in Wing Chun as a martial art or in the training that he realized isn’t going to be effective in a real situation.
Yes, Bruce Lee was certainly ahead of his time in many ways. His own developed martial art style of JKD is pretty close to modern MMA, a style in which Inosanto is a high-ranking authority in.
