Iron Body techniques are used in Kung Fu by martial artists to harden their body tissue and is generally applied the legs, trunk, hands, arms, and head. The goal being to develop an ability to withstand blows from opponent and also deliver blows without sustaining damage to ones self.

Adults start with slapping of themselves with their own hands progressing sometimes to using a bag filled with beans or even steel balls. Sometimes bamboo sticks are also used. The techniques can safely be applied to children as seen above, using much softer techniques at a young age.
