Tom Cruise’s combat training for ‘Collateral’
Perhaps one of the most recognizable and polarizing stars in all of Hollywood, Tom Cruise has graced the silver screen for well over 30 years and is showing no signs of slowing down.
A certified action-superstar some fans may be surprised to learn that Tom Cruise actually insists on doing his own stunts, which is a rarity for stars of his caliber as a stunt double would be typically worked in to complete the death defying shots that are required.
Some of the stunts include the Fish Tank scene from Mission Impossible, the car chase in Jack Reacher, the use of real knifes in the finale of Mission Impossible II and the shootout scene in the film Collateral.
In the following behind the scenes clip we look into the weapons training and close quarter combat training Tom Cruise had to undergo for his role as the hit man Vincent in the aforementioned 2004 film Collateral.
“As an assassin you must be economical in your moves, the fight scenes were choreographed months ahead of time.” according to Cruise, who went through the rigors of live fire arm training, pad work as well as mixing the two seamlessly to help deliver the intense fight scenes in the final film.
