Jon Jones vs. 10th planet brown belt at local tournament
UFC star Jon Jones rarely shies away from a challenge. The UFC fighter was at the Europa Expo in Phoenix, Arizona this weekend and had the opportunity to interact with his fans.
Taking pictures, signing autographs, pretending to choke a fan out… that’s the usual stuff fighters do when they get to meet MMA fans. This time though, a fan showed some eccentricity by actually challenging the UFC star to a grappling match!
Jon Jones took to Instagram to share the footage of their grappling match. The caption under the IG post read as: “Was randomly called out by some MMA fans to try a grappling match today after my autograph signing. Ended up rolling with a brown belt and a purple belt. Hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did. May even try it again tomorrow.”
Such gesture is pretty cool if you ask me. Sometimes UFC fighters are criticized by fans for being too uppity and not taking the time to interact with fans. ‘Bones’ though went out of his way to accept the fan’s challenge!
The former UFC Light Heavyweight champ wasn’t holding back either. The fan who called him out was no slouch, and Jones had to take him seriously. This isn’t every day that a UFC star accepts a fan’s challenge, so enjoy this footage of Jones being awesome!
