Self-defense ‘expert’ gets RUDE awakening from wrestler

People from all walks of life get into the martial arts for various reasons whether it’s for sport, self-defense, development of oneself, health etc.

If you spend enough time at a gym you’ll likely counter the person who’s very eager to show off their techniques, hoping to get awe and praise from those around him, regardless as to whether or not they are an expert in the particular style they train in.

In the following video, we see a “martial arts and self-defense expert” shadowboxing to show off his striking skills to a small group of individuals in the middle of nowhere. He shows off everything from hooks to uppercuts and crescent kicks all while making a lot of noise to let you know about how good his technique is. The onlookers don’t say too much.

The video then cuts to the expert having a friend of his grab him by the throat with both hands, presumably to demonstrate how easily he can escape from such a position in a street fight.

As he tries to apply what looks to be a wrist lock, his friend has other ideas. Looking like he has a bit of a grappling background, the grappler manages to get back control while the self-defense expert tries to turn around only get to tossed onto the ground with a body lock.

Once on the ground, the self-defense expert looks like a fish out of water as he flails around trying to get back to his feet while the grappler maintains control. Miraculously the self-defense expert does get back to his feet only to get double legged back onto the ground.

The lesson to be learned here? Don’t underestimate grapplers.

Check out the clip below.

When showing a self-defense move goes wrong…:)
