EPIC karate fail from ‘Sri Lanka’s Got Talent’
For whatever reason, many practitioners of more traditional martial arts still mistakenly believe that the breaking of bricks and boards has anything to do with actual fighting ability. This is still commonly seen mostly in styles of karate, Taekwondo, as well as in Kung Fu (Chinese martial arts).
In this video, however, from ‘Sri Lanka’s Got Talent’, we see one rare instance where the bricks actually win for a change.
32-year-old karate black belt, Sudarshana Deshappriya, most likely went on Sri Lanka’s version of the ‘Got Talent’ series hoping to show off his martial arts skills to the world.
But, instead of practicing any real martial arts, he gets whopped on with some bricks and tiles which has zero bearing on real fighting ability.
Though in his defense, he does definitely show some degree of toughness and perhaps in some way it is somewhat impressive that he’s doing it all while holding in a splits position. But the bricks still clearly hurt him, you can tell from his reaction from the first blow.
As previously stated, it always baffles me when these type of ‘breaking’ martial arts demonstrations come up, as it literally has nothing to do with actual fighting.
Most of the time too, the kind of bricks used and the way they are set up and laid out is in such a way where they are easier to break. These type of stunts and demonstrations can almost always be considered ‘parlor tricks’.
In an absolutely comical ending, this guy hits himself in the head with one of these bricks which knocks him right out of the splits and down on his butt. Check it out in the video below.
And, believe it or not, this guy apparently still made it through to the next round on ‘Sri Lanka’s Got Talent’ with this awful performance.
