Pakistan challenge match – Kyokushin vs Taekwondo

Thursday, November 17, 2016

This challenge match from Pakistan between a taekwondo fighter and a kyokushin practitioner may involve just white belts but these guys are throwing hard and with pretty good technique.

It is unclear what the rule set is initially as these guys are going quite a bit harder than normal point karate competition. Neither man is wearing any sort of protection either. This seems more like an all out fight!

It is also unclear who is representing each style but it is likely that the guy with the beard is taekwondo and the clean shaven guy is from kyokushin. This estimate is based on the kicking ability of the bearded guy as well as the clean shaven guy having a more karate type stance.

The karate practitioner displays some great leg kicks throughout the match that clearly hurt his opponent as well as limits his movement and kicking ability.

Both guys hit the ground in this one, either from being dropped or just slipping. That stone ground appears very unforgiving too and likely caused more damage than the strikes themselves.

A beautiful tornado kick to the head is landed by the taller, clean shaven guy at the 2:55 mark which is the best strike of the fight. His opponent displays a good chin though as it doesn’t seem to faze him too bad.

Eventually the fight is mercifully called when the bearded guy cannot take anymore. The two embrace after the fight in a show of mutual respect yet it is clear who won this one though.

“Kyokushin is a style of stand-up, full contact karate, founded in 1964 by Korean-Japanese Masutatsu Oyama. “Kyokushin” is Japanese for “the ultimate truth.” It is rooted in a philosophy of self-improvement, discipline and hard training. Its full contact style had international appeal (practitioners have over the last 40+ years numbered more than 12 million).” [Source: Wiki]
