47-year-old chemistry teacher moonlights as MMA fighter

Tuesday, October 03, 2017

In this video from Russian amateur MMA league Arrows Street Fight, we see something a little different as an alleged 47-year-old chemistry teacher ‘breaks bad’ so to speak and competes in MMA.

Though the similarities to the TV show Breaking Bad are pretty funny (he’s even got the shaved head!), in reality, competing in MMA is a much more positive pursuit compared to the plot-line of the show.

However, what we find out in the video is that fighting is most definitely a young man’s game and being 47-years-old is a little too long in the tooth for it. Though the 47-year-old definitely deserves some credit for putting it on the line, especially against such a larger opponent, he may be in little over his head in this one.

According to the video description, the chemistry teacher has trained in jiu-jitsu but he certainly doesn’t fight like it. Had he been an experienced grappler, you would think the game plan would be to, well, GRAPPLE!

Instead, he stands right in front of his bigger opponent and tries to throw leather and in the video we see how that goes for him.

Also according to the video description, his opponent, the so-called ‘fat man’ has no skill/martial arts training but the way he throws leather might make you think otherwise. Check out the video below and see how it ends.

The project “Arrow. Street fights “started in the summer of 2011 in St. Petersburg. Anyone has the opportunity to take part in street battles without rules. For battles allowed only amateurs and semi-professionals. After a thorough analysis of the data and capabilities of the fighters, the jury forms approximately equal in strength pairs. In the battles involved men of different ages and social groups, which gives the project a truly popular and democratic character.  [Source: YouTube]
