Conor McGregor vs. Boxing great, Oscar De La Hoya on punch machine
Current UFC lightweight champion, Conor McGregor, is known for his tremendous punching ability, but how would it stack up to that of an elite-level boxers?
In this video, we get to find out, as both Conor McGregor and all-time boxing great, Oscar De La Hoya, test their punching power on an arcade punching machine and who comes out on top may very well surprise you.
As previously stated, Conor McGregor is very well-known in MMA for his punching power. Though, he would probably say it’s the timing and precision of his punches which is more special. Nevertheless, his punching ability is what won him the UFC featherweight title in just 13-seconds from all-time great, Jose Aldo, as well as the UFC lightweight championship from Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.
His punching ability was put to the ultimate test this past summer against one of the greatest boxers ever in Floyd Mayweather Jr. and while Conor didn’t get the KO that time, he was most certainly impressive in his very first boxing outing.
Interestingly enough, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is now actually a common opponent for the two guys in this video as more than 10 years ago now, De La Hoya and Mayweather went at it in a super-fight of their own.
With all due respect to McGregor, De La Hoya performed much better against Floyd which really should come as no surprise as boxing is De La Hoya’s sport while McGregor was really just taking a stab at it.
While De La Hoya was never really known as a knockout puncher like McGregor is, you would think that a boxer, who just focuses on that aspect of fighting, is naturally going to have more power than an MMA fighter who has to focus on so many different things.
Check out the above video to see who comes out on top. You may very well be surprised.
