Muay Thai practitioner takes on MMA fighter – ends decisively
In this amateur MMA fight from Arrows Street Fight, also known as STRELKA, we see an interesting clash of styles as a Muay Thai practitioner takes on an MMA fighter and, while it is definitely a compelling affair, it does still end decisively.
While Muay Thai is the probably the most effective striking-based martial art of all, against a well-rounded MMA fighter who knows how to grapple, the Muay Thai guy is probably going to come up short.
We see early on in this particular video, however, that the Muay Thai guy is actually having quite a bit of success. He is blasting the MMA guy over and over with hard low kicks and doing a good job staying on the outside, initially.
But once the MMA fighter gets a hold of him and is able to get him down, it spells trouble for the striker who is clearly not well-versed in the grappling department.
This particularly MMA fight is really a good example, though, of the importance of having well-rounded skills, particularly if you plan on competing in MMA.
The Muay Thai practitioner was clearly the much more skilled and technical striker on the feet, but the MMA guy knew enough to keep himself from getting finished and once he got his opponent to the ground, the discrepancy in skill was just too great.
Check out the video below to see how the MMA fighter finishes it.
