New world record for the HARDEST punch – UFC’s Francis Ngannou
UFC heavyweight powerhouse, Francis Ngannou, may not be a household name just quite yet but that is most likely going to be changing very soon.
Just this past weekend at UFC 218, Ngannou BRUTALLY knocked out top-ranked opponent, Alistair Overeem, with a vicious shovel hook (half uppercut, half hook) displaying an almost otherworldly type of punching power.
According to this video, Ngannou’s unreal punching ability is no longer just a matter of opinion; it has been tested at the UFC’s performance institute and the results are in – Francis Ngannou allegedly possesses the world’s hardest punch.
Much like in the documentary Rocky 4 with Ivan Drago, Ngannou’s punch force was measured at an astronomical 129, 161 units, which is not just the record at the performance institute where the testing took place, but allegedly, it is the new world record.
The previous record was held by heavyweight kickboxer, boxer, and MMA fighter, Tyrone Spong, who was clocked in at a very respectable 114,000 units.
With his brutal victory over world class opponent, Alistair Overeem, now officially in the books (as well as in his highlight reel), Ngannou has been guaranteed a title shot at reigning champion, Stipe Miocic, who may present some different problems for Ngannou.
What makes his fight versus Miocic a little more interesting (as if it wasn’t already!), is that if Stipe wins, it would break another world record – the number of times the UFC heavyweight belt has been defended which would be 3 times (the current record is just 2 defenses).
Miocic will certainly have his hands full with Ngannou, however, who’s world-class punching power may very well begin a new reign.
