Skilled wrestler vs. MMA fighter in amateur bout – someone gets CRUSHED
In this amateur MMA fight from Arrows Street Fight, also known as STRELKA, we see what happens when a skilled wrestler takes on an MMA fighter and it ends in absolutely devastating fashion.
Of all of the various styles and martial arts backgrounds you can have prior to competing in mixed martial arts, wrestling is probably the best out of all of them.
Having a solid background in wrestling allows you to decide where the fight takes place. If you are fighting someone who is a good striker, you can take them down. And if you are fighting someone who is slick on the ground with submissions, you can keep it on the feet and strike.
Wrestling skills give you options in the fight, which in MMA, is hugely important to your overall success. Obviously, being well-rounded and being good everywhere is ideal, but if you can have only one skillset before getting into MMA, I’d reckon wrestling is the best to have.
In the video below, we see the importance of some of these wrestling skills as it’s actually the MMA fighter (who’s wearing the shirt) who surprisingly goes in for the takedown, but the wrestler’s skills keep him upright and end up taking his opponent down instead and into the mount position too no less.
It doesn’t last too much longer after that. Check out the brutal finish in the video below.
