The CRAZIEST slug-fests in MMA history
Everybody loves a good slugfest. A good brawl in MMA is something that both the hardcore fans and casuals can enjoy and even often someone who has never watched the sport before will enjoy it too.
While many newer and casual fans annoyingly complain when a fight hits the ground, you never hear any complaints when the two combatants throw caution to the wind and throw down like something out of a Rocky movie.
In this video, we see the best slugfests ever in MMA, including some from not too long ago and others from way, way back that you may have forgotten about.
One of the more recent crazy slugfests is when current featherweight champion, Max Holloway, threw down against opponent Ricardo Lamas in crazy fashion near the end of the third round. This awesome slobber knocker was on the UFC 199 card where Michael Bisping knocked out Luke Rockhold and was an event that many were overlooking but ended up being one of the best events of the year.
Some of the ones from further back include the epic Frye vs Takayama fight from Pride FC. This is perhaps the greatest slugfest ever and these two men literally just wailed on each other in brutal, yet very entertaining fashion. In recent years, Takayama has since suffered some very serious injuries resulting in paralysis and Frye has had some hard times as well so all of that really makes you appreciate this fight even more and the sacrifice these warriors make for our entertainment.
Another awesome slugfest, of course, is the Forrest Griffin vs Stephan Bonnar fight from the TUF 1 finale. While this one doesn’t hold up quite as good as some other ones, it was still a crazy, wild brawl with a lot of historical significance. Had this fight been a stinker, there’s an argument to be made that the UFC and MMA, particularly in the West, may not be where it is today.
