UFC fighter Zubaira Tukhugov in a street fight when he was 17
There’s been no shortage of street fights coming out of Russia over the years, but this one is unique in that it features a current UFC fighter, Zubaira Tukhugov.
Apparently, this bare-knuckle battle took place back in a snow-lined street in 2008, when Tukhugov was just 17-years-old, two years before he made his professional MMA debut.
Tukhugov is seen in the video wearing black trousers, shoes, and jumper, going up against a tracksuit-wearing opponent, who it’s claimed was several years older than him.
An extended clinch battle follows, then a flurry of hands, before Tukhugov’s rival stumbles and they both fall to the ground, with the future UFC fighter quickly scrambling on top.
There’s not too much action at this stage, though Tukhugov does land a few ground and pound punches that bloodied his opponent’s nose before they get back to their feet.
His opponent now looks more hesitant and Tukhugov pours on the pressure with a series of punches, leading to a right hook that drops him to his knees, then a soccer kick to the face as he’s getting back up.
With his rival looking to be on the verge of quitting, Tukhugov wades forward with more punches and then transitions into a double-leg takedown, thumping him back down to the asphalt.
Tukhugov is then able to take his back and sinks in a rear-naked choke that forces his rival to tap-out.
It’s believed that Tukhugov was involved in numerous street fights in his youth, but he eventually put his skills to better use in the cage, compiling a 15-3 record in the space of just three-and-a-half years while fighting for various Russian MMA promotions.
Tukhugov then signed for the UFC in 2013 and has since racked up a 3-1 record in the Octagon, but the 26-year-old is currently suspended due to an anti-doping violation stemming from two separate out-of-competition tests in September and October of 2016.
