Toughness, both mental and physical, is an essential trait for professional fighters. If you are not willing to suffer or deal with the physical pain associated with fighting, you are probably not going to make it that far.

In this video from martial arts YouTube channel, MindSmash, which focuses on the mental side of fighting, we see a great example of a Muay Thai fighter who demonstrates an impressive amount toughness and perseverance, both physically and mentally.

The Muay Thai fighter featured in this video, who goes by the name of James, is 30 years old and from Denmark and what’s interesting about him is he doesn’t have all that much experience in combat sports and comes from a high-stakes poker background.

James was featured in another one of MindSmash’s videos about how he went into a Muay Thai fight with not much training and somehow pulled in off which he credits to his high-stakes poker background which allegedly gave him some sort of mental edge.

Much like in that video, in this one, we see the poker player, James, battle the odds once again as he takes on a Muay Thai fighter with seemingly much more experience than he has and, not only that, but James also breaks his arm during the first round of the fight.

This would be a nightmare scenario for many fighters, even at the highest level, as a broken arm usually means the fight is over.

That’s not how this one goes down, however. Check it out in the video below and see how the mentally-tough poker player, James, deals with adversity in this one.
