Muay Thai legend Saenchai spars GIANT guy at seminar
Muay Thai legend Saenchai has always been well known for fighting much larger opponents throughout his legendary career, but in this video from a seminar in Belgium, he may have bitten off a little more than he can chew it seems.
His sparring partner in this video is named Lukas Achterberg who trains out of Germany and he must be close to 7 feet tall. Unlike a lot of very tall fighters, this guy clearly uses his height extremely well.
While Saenchai struggles a bit with his height in this one, the Thai legends elite level skill is still very apparent particularly around the 28-second mark of the video where he lands a great combination.
One of Saenchai’s most well-known techniques is his kick catching ability which we also see on display in this video. The big guy even attempts one of Saenchai’s signature kicks in this session – the cartwheel kick, which Saenchai easily avoids.
Though the big guy’s size clearly flusters the Muay Thai legend a bit in this one, Saenchai’s elite level skills, particularly his defensive skills, keep him out of any serious trouble.
Saenchai (born July 30, 1980), formerly known as Saenchai Sor. Kingstar, is a Thai Muay Thai fighter. Saenchai won the Lumpinee Championship title, which is widely considered the most prestigious title in Muay Thai, in four different weight divisions, while mostly fighting larger opponents. He is considered by many to be the best pound for pound Muay Thai fighter and is regarded as one of the best fighters of all time. Saenchai would often give up weight to find worthy opponents in Thailand, and from 2003-2014 only lost two times in Thailand when the weights were equal, with all other losses happening when he was forced to have a weight disadvantage to make the fights more evenly matched.
