5 things you MUST know before joining a martial arts school
With the ringing in of the new year, many of us are either getting back into martial arts training or even starting training for the first time to help us reach our fitness and martial arts related goals.
Compared to working out at a standard fitness gym, training at a martial arts gym is not only way more fun but you also learn some cool new skills and meet a whole bunch of new, like-minded friends as well.
In this video from martial arts YouTube channel, fightTIPS, we find out the 5 things you’ve got to know before signing up at a martial arts gym if you want to avoid rubbing people the wrong way.
For people who have trained at a martial arts gym before, most of these are pretty much common sense, but if you have never trained before you might not know these things.
One important thing from this video you should know is that you should never wear your outside shoes on the mats. Keeping the mats clean is an essential part of gym maintenance and seeing how often they clean the mats is actually a good way to tell if you are training at a good gym or not.
Most of the people who train at martial arts gyms are very friendly, though, so even if you do not know these things at first or forget them it’s not really a big deal. Just try not to make it a habit of doing so.
