You may not realize it when you’re having a night out, but you are very vulnerable to being attacked at almost any given time by a simple sucker punch. Although it is a very simple attack, this move has been used to very devastating effect by perpetrators often causing permanent injuries and in some instances even causing death.

So what can you do to prevent yourself from becoming a victim of this kind of attack?

In the following tutorial video Grapplearts.com founder and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt Stephan Kesting and his training partner Richard go through the two most common sucker punch tactics that are utilized, which will give you a better understanding in defending them.

The first thing Stephan stresses is that you need awareness as this will be able to diffuse almost any attempt at being blindsided by an attack.
