MMA fighters HILARIOUSLY test the effectiveness of women’s self-defense moves

Self-defense is an interesting branch of the martial arts world and though there are certainly a lot of great instructors out there with lots of real-world experience, there are definitely still a lot of charlatans in self-defense who are teaching moves and techniques that can get people hurt.

In this video, we see an excellent example of the kind of self-defense bullcrap that’s out there as we see a couple of MMA fighters, including Ramsey ‘Danger’ Dewey who’s 3-4 as a pro, actually try out some women’s self-defense techniques using actual resistance (which seems to be quite rare in many self-defense classes).

A lot of the techniques these guys go over in this video are simply ridiculous and there’s no way they would ever work and it potentially could get someone hurt in a real-life situation by trying this stuff instead of trying to run/escape to safety.

In the words of longtime UFC color commentator and podcast extraordinaire, Joe Rogan, in martial arts, you want to use the stuff that works on trained killers. As previously stated, although there are definitely some legitimate self-defense instructors out there, you really can’t go wrong with what works in MMA/UFC, for women or anybody, and martial arts like Muay Thai and BJJ are great places to start.

ABOUT RAMSEY DEWEY:
I grew up in a small farming town in rural Idaho (USA) where my first interest in martial arts began when I was terrorized by the school bully as a child. Yep, I’m one of those guys who learned how to fight because I got picked on when I was a kid. Years later, I became a professional fighter out of pure financial necessity. I fought to pay bills, plain and simple. In 2009, I moved to China and started teaching the sport of MMA in Shanghai, as well as competing across China, Mongolia, and Singapore against some of the top fighters on this side of the world including BJJ World Champion & UFC veteran Leandro “Brodinho” Issa, and Chinese national Sanda, Muay Thai, and K1 champion, RUFF MMA champion, and UFC fighter “The Dongbei Tiger” Wang Guan. [Source: mmafitnessclub.weebly.com]
