Long before Anderson Silva was in consideration for being one of the top pound for pound mixed martial arts MMA fighters of all time, Dan Inosato and Bruce Lee where training in martial arts like Jeet Kune Do, Judo, Ju Jutsu, Shoot Wrestling, Eskrima, Muay Thai, Silat, and even the very first froms of Mixed Martial Arts. Considered one of the 3 Jun Fan Gun Fu institutes under Bruce Lee along with Taky Kimura and James Yimm Lee Inosato has traveled the world studying martial arts. Since the death of Bruce Lee many people consider Dan Inosato as the premier historian and preserver of his Jeet Kune Do Style. Although disputed amongst some fo the JKD community, Inosanto stated that it was him who introduced Bruce Lee to nunchaku weapon training which Bruce Lee displayed for everyone to witness in the Game of Death martial arts classic movie.
While the knowledge of what we know about Martial Arts as a whole has continued to evolve so has the training of Dan Inosato who holds a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt under the Machado family.
Anderson Silva is a well known Bruce Lee fan, and this video of him training with Dan Inosato is a great example of how a true Martial Artist seeks out knowledge and training partners. Currently preparing for a UFC showdown against Micahel Bisping later this year in London, Anderson Silva will be looking to rebound his professional MMA career and pick up his first win inside the octagon since 2012.
